New Businesses to Kirkcaldy High Street

Kirkcaldy man Ken Hunter and business partner Pete Murphy from South Queensferry are excited about launching their new business, Komandor, on the town’s High Street this weekend.

As agents for Komandor, they are selling bespoke fitted furniture for homes and businesses in Fife, Tayside, the Lothians and central Scotland.

The top quality product, which is unique to Fife, is manufactured for Europe in Poland and is now selling widely in countries around the world, with a growing market.

And Ken and Pete are delighted to be bringing it to Kirkcaldy.

“My background is in private housing development and interiors, and being from Kirkcaldy I remember when the High Street was buzzing,” said Ken.

“I am proud to be part of the regeneration of the town centre. We are confident that our business will bring a new and unique outlet that will be welcomed and well respected in the town. There are not many outlets producing the quality we can offer.”

The bright new showroom displays examples of the many fitted wardrobe options for walk-in and sliding door systems, and Komandor provides a full range of finishes to suit all decor, from stylish imitation wood and rattan of all hues to glass and mirrors.

A free survey and design service, and fitting to domestic and small business customers is also included in the price.

The business is supported by Kirkcaldy4All and Business Gateway Fife, and has being assisted in starting up by Fife Council. It plans to offer an employment opportunity for a young showroom assistant who will receive a full training programme through the modern apprentice scheme.

The showroom will be officially opened tomorrow (Friday) at 11.00 a.m. by Councillor Neil Crooks and invited guests in the afternoon, and will be open to the public from Saturday.
